Biography

Jeremiah Bornfield began his career composing exploring expressionism and imitative polyphony in new audio/visual art, and classical concert music commissions for virtuoso performers and ensembles in New York City, eventually premiering works at Carnegie Hall and Taipei National Theater. Over time he has involved a wide group of musicians and engineers to help create original music for film and advertising. His company Postsound Publishing represents a catalog of hundreds of original works for film, television, and the web, including a CLIO nominated brand launch led by Havas, A/R New York and Sibling Rivalry Studios. In addition to composition, Jeremiah has frequently assisted directors/editors with film editing and managed total audio post production.

After writing for a handful of short films, the amazing opportunity to compose the score for the award winning feature documentary Hitchcock/Truffaut (Cohen Media) led to composing/editing The Voyage (Cannes 2016), and subsequently three more feature films scored during 2017/18 including Diane which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival as the winner of best narrative feature, best screenplay and best cinematography in April 2018, and is one of three collaborations with the director Kent Jones.

Jeremiah received a masters degree in composition from Hunter College and wrote for mixed chamber ensembles with Conrad Cummings at Juilliard. He was invited to participate in The SCL’s Composer Mentor Program, BMI Commercial Composition Workshop, and ASCAP Film Scoring Program at NYU. He has written commissions and collaborated with the Grammy nominated St. Petersburg String Quartet, Prague Philharmonic Players, Attacca Quartet, So Percussion, Nouveau Classical Project, Metropolis Opera, Gregg Smith Singers, Hunter College Opera and has also had the great joy of hearing his music mixed to picture at Soundtrack Studios and Skywalker Sound.
